Remember that in any media, the news that circulates the fastest is that of a negative nature.
Bad news is what the audience asks for, so bad news is what the audience receives. Have you guys ever asked yourselves, is what I’m posting or spreading potentially negative? Am I adding to the very process that keeps our media in persistent pessimism? Those with the ability to see someone who operates outside the confines of societal norms, and say to themselves “that person is unique” rather than “that person is a weird,” already has the ability to reshape the social structure around them. When passing judgement onto another person ask, “if that person were to hear or see what you were doing, would they become more or less confident in themselves?”
Hurricane Sandy is obviously a popular media topic right now, and I’m sure the majority of what is being displayed is of a negative nature: destruction, loss of power, lack of transpo, death, sickness, etc. Sometimes what isn’t being showed is also of severe suggestion. Think of potential strengths to come out of natural disaster.- Just this minor change in thinking, one from pessimism to optimism, has the ability to fuel your actions with social and self constructed confidence.
